EVT290S Truss Systems Knowledge Center
EVT290A-BCON Half Conical Connector.
For Attaching Compatible 290 mm Truss to a Base Plate.
The EVT290A-BCON is a half conical connector used to attach compatible 290 mm truss to a base plate. It mounts to aluminum, steel, or project-specific base-plate material with an M10 x 20 mm bolt and connects to truss through a standard coupler-pin and r-clip. Use it in documented ground-supported truss pillars, totems, arches, portals, and display structures where the complete base-plate and truss assembly has been selected for the intended application.
Product Facts
Product Overview
Attach Compatible 290 mm Truss to an Approved Base Plate.
The EVT290A-BCON makes two separate connections. Its flat mounting face fastens to the base plate with the included M10 x 20 mm bolt. Its truss side uses a standard half conical coupling: a coupler-pin secures the truss connection and an r-clip retains the installed pin. The M10 mounting bolt attaches the connector to the base plate; it is not part of the truss-side conical connection.
What the Connector Can Build
Ground-Supported Truss Structures that Begin at a Base Plate.
The BCON is used wherever a compatible truss structure begins from a base plate instead of another truss segment. Base-plate material, thickness, ballast, mounting conditions, installed loads, and the complete support arrangement must be selected for the actual finished structure.
Included Components
One Half Conical Connector with Hardware for One Base Plate Connection.
The EVT290A-BCON package includes one half coupler, one coupler-pin, one r-clip, and one M10 x 20 mm mounting bolt. The coupler-pin and r-clip secure the compatible truss-side connection. The M10 bolt secures the connector to the base plate. Confirm current package contents and inspect all components before assembly.
Verify the mounting-bolt torque, the installed coupler-pin, and the installed r-clip before the finished structure is moved, loaded, or opened for use.

System Compatibility
Use the BCON in Compatible 290 mm Conical Truss Structures.
The BCON uses a 290 mm conical truss interface and is intended for compatible EVT290I, EVT290T, EVT290S, F34-format, and matching 290 mm conical systems where receiver details, coupler dimensions, coupler-pin alignment, r-clip fit, component condition, and applicable documentation are verified. The finished base-plate structure requires review for the actual layout, support conditions, ballast, and attached loads.
Verify the actual component interface, required hardware, base-plate mounting conditions, manufacturer documentation, and project-specific engineering before mixing brands or building a revised structure.
Assembly Overview
Mount the Connector First, Then Make the Standard Truss Connection.
The base-plate mounting bolt and the truss-side conical coupling are separate steps. Assemble the finished structure on an appropriate surface with trained personnel, compatible components, current manufacturer instructions, and the approved project plan. Never force the truss-side connection into alignment.
Safety and Engineering
A Base Plate Connector Requires A Complete Support Plan.
The BCON does not establish an allowable load, structure height, ballast requirement, or freestanding-structure rating by itself. The base-plate mounting bolt and truss-side conical connection must both be verified. Evaluate the selected base plate, its material and thickness, ballast or anchoring, truss geometry, connections, installed loads, lateral forces, public access, and environmental conditions as part of the completed structure. Obtain qualified rigging and engineering review for public-facing, outdoor, load-bearing, or otherwise regulated installations.
Product Questions
EVT290A-BCON Questions.
Does the truss bolt on, or connect through the standard coupler?
The truss connects through the standard half conical coupler, secured with a coupler-pin and r-clip. The M10 x 20 mm bolt mounts the BCON to the base plate only.
What hardware is included with one BCON?
Each unit includes one half coupler, one coupler-pin, one r-clip, and one M10 x 20 mm mounting bolt with a 1.5 thread pitch.
What torque and tool are required?
Torque the M10 mounting bolt to 11 ft-lb using a 6 mm hex key.
Can the connector be used with other 290 mm truss brands?
Use it only after the full conical connection interface and completed structure have been verified. Nominal 290 mm size or physical fit alone does not establish compatibility or structural suitability.
